Each test takes approximately 5 minutes, with results given within 48 hours. The new facility is capable of conducting 250 tests each day.
To book an appointment at the facility, residents must first call the DHA on 800342. Once registered, the patient will receive a text confirming the appointment, which must then be presented – along with an Emirates ID – at the centre.
After the patient is verified, DHA medical personnel will approach the car to take a nasal swab. The results can then be viewed using the DHA app and clicking ‘lab results’ under patient services.
DHA is warning residents that, as with other essential tasks, patients at the centre must first register for permission to leave home as per previous government directives. They should also take precautions including face masks and gloves. No more than three passengers are allowed to be in a car when the test is conducted.
If an individual tests positive for Covid-19 they should immediately self-isolate at home and avoid interactions with others. DHA will then inform the Covid-19 positive patients of what the following steps will be.
As of the morning of April 8, there have been 2,359 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE, including 12 deaths and 186 recoveries.
