Coronavirus: UAE announces 490 new cases, four more deaths

There are currently 7,755 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country and 46 deaths.

The UAE announced 490 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday and three more deaths at the hands of the Covid-19 virus.

Dr. Farida Al Hosani, spokesperson for the UAE health sector, said that the three fatalities involved three Asian nationals.

There are currently 7,755 confirmed cases in the country and 46 deaths, the majority of whom, Dr Al Hosani said, were already suffering from chronic illnesses.

Dr Al Hosani also revealed that there have been over 30,000 Covid-19 tests over the past few days and that 83 patients had recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,443.

She stressed the importance of increased testing to ensure the early detection of infections, particularly among those exposed to previously confirmed cases.

On Monday plans were announced to test every single citizen and resident in the UAE for the deadly coronavirus.
