Saudi Arabia announces record-high 1,289 new Covid-19 cases

To date, more than 1 million people in the country have been screened for Covid-19.

Saudi Arabia has recorded 1,289 new cases of coronavirus in the kingdom, the largest single day tally in the kingdom since the Covid-19 crisis began.

The country’s total number of coronavirus cases now stands at 18,811.

Additionally, Saudi health authorities reported five additional fatalities in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s total death toll to 144.

In a report, the Saudi Press Agency noted that 174 more people have recovered from the virus. The kingdom’s total number of recoveries now stands at 2,531.

Of the new cases, Jeddah accounted for 294, compared to 218 in Makkah, 202 in Madinah and 178 in Riyadh.

To date, more than 1 million people in the country have been screened for Covid-19.

Globally, there have been more than 3 million confirmed cases of coronavirus around the world, including over 211,000 deaths. Over 923,000 people have recovered from the virus.
