Coronavirus: Kuwait records 598 new cases of Covid-19, seven more deaths

Kuwait Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh has called on servicemen to deal in a “decisive manner” with people violating the full curfew.

Kuwait announced 598 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, taking the total number of infections in the country up to 9,286.

The Ministry of Health also revealed a further seven deaths, with the Covid-19 death toll rising to 65.

In the daily press briefing Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said that 131 patients were currently being treated in intensive care.

The Ministry also announced the recovery of 178 more patients, bringing the total to 2,907 recoveries.

On Sunday, Kuwait imposed a 20-day total curfew with a two-hour grace period between 4.30pm and 6.30pm to exercise inside residential areas, with the wearing of masks mandatory and physical distancing strictly adhered to.

He said: "Government resolutions achieve security of citizens and expatriates, and safeguard their safety and wellbeing.”
