Death toll in the kingdom as a result of Covid-19 virus currently stands at 302
Saudi Arabia revealed 2,840 new positive cases of Covid-19 on Saturday as the total number of cases reached 52,016.
The kingdom has the most number of cases across the GCC and also the highest death toll in the region to date – ten new deaths were reported on Saturday, with the total number of fatalities standing at 302.
Assistant Minister of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali, who is also spokesperson of the Health Ministry, said that of the new cases confirmed, 34 percent involve Saudi nationals and 66 percent expatriates.
There are currently 28,048 active cases in the kingdom, 166 described as “critical”.
The number of new recoveries is 1,797, bringing the total number of recoverees to 23,666, Dr. Al-Abdulaali added.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al Rabiah revealed that the kingdom is among the lowest in terms of mortality rate and critical cases in the world.
He explained that the increase in the number of cases was a result of heightened testing across all regions in the kingdom and the capacity in laboratories, which has increased more than threefold since the start of the pandemic.
