Number of confirmed cases in the Sultanate has gone up by 193 to 5,378
A 46-year-old resident in Oman has become the latest Covid-19-related fatality in the Sultanate, taking the death toll in the country up to 23.
The death was announced on Monday by the Ministry of Health, who revealed 193 new cases over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 5,379. Of the new cases, 72 are Omanis and 121 involve expatriates.
The ministry also said that a total of 1,496 patients had recovered from the virus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has postponed the third term of municipal council elections, scheduled to take place this year.
A statement on the Oman News Agency website said: “The decision, taken in view of current situation of the Sultanate and the whole world due to coronavirus pandemic, also sustains the existing structure of municipal councils till such a time that new elections could be held.”
