Oman sees surge in Covid-19 cases with 930 new infections

Oman reported five deaths due to Covid-19, taking the total toll from 67 to 72.

Oman has seen a surge in coronavirus cases, with 930 new infections reported on Saturday compared to a lower 770 cases on Friday, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced.

Those newly infected in the Sultanate include 239 Omanis and 691 residents, bringing the total number of positive cases in the country to 16, 016, including 72 deaths, reported local news agency WAM.

Oman revealed it had tested a total of 3,128 people on Saturday.

On Friday it also reported five deaths due to Covid-19, taking the total toll from 67 to 72.

While a total of 3,451 people have recovered from the virus, 45 were admitted to the hospital on Saturday, taking the total number of people being treated in hospitals to 251, including 67 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
