Coronavirus: Kuwait confirms 609 new cases of Covid-19

There are currently 184 patients receiving treatment for coronavirus in intensive care wards.

Kuwait confirmed 609 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the total number of infections in the country up to 34,432.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Health said four more people had died from the Covid-19 virus, bringing the death toll in the country up to 279 since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Ministry spokesperson Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad said the new infection cases included 264 Kuwaiti citizens, 106 Indian nationals, 58 from Egypt, 44 from Bangladesh and the rest hailed from various other countries

Infections were discovered in Al-Farwaniya (249), Al-Ahmadi (129), Al-Jahraa (101), Hawally (81) and 49 in Al-Assimah.

There are currently 184 patients receiving treatment in intensive care wards.

Dr Al-Sanad added that a further 46 patients were cured of the infectious disease and were discharged from quarantine.
