British actor Jason Statham could be filming his next Hollywood blockbuster in Bahrain, according to local paper Gulf Daily News.

The 45-year old actor, most famous for his role in 'The Transporter' film trilogy, is the first choice to play the lead role in 'Bulldog Drummond - Hero For Hire', which will be filmed in the Gulf state.

“Once the screenplay is completed and we have a director attached, we intend to approach Statham to play Bulldog Drummond,” James Black, head of production at Twickenham Film Group (TFG) told the newspaper.

London-based TFG earlier in the month said it would film part of the movie in Bahrain.

TFG, which earlier in the year also announced plans to set up a film academy and studio in the Gulf state, is currently scouting potential film locations for the film, which will follow the adventures of a fictional British spy, Bulldog Drummond.

The film is based on a series of novels published between 1920 and 1954. James Bond author Ian Fleming has admitted he used the character as inspiration for his own series of novels and films.

Jason Statham and Blockbuster should not be in the same sentence.

This piece of new is a load of rubbish. It's just basically a guy saying that he wants Statham to be in his movie. NO substance to this article whatsoever.

They don't even have a script, or a director. And they've not even began contemplating how to approach Jason for the role. What utter tosh.
