HP extends storage line

HP has released two direct-attached products based on serial-attached SCSI (SAS) technology.

HP claimed the offerings extended the data performance, flexibility and reliability of its entry-level Modular Smart Array (MSA) family.

The new HP StorageWorks MSA60 and MSA70 offers tiered storage to customers by supporting SAS and serial ATA (SATA) drives in the same enclosure.

The products also offer improved data protection with a range of fail-safe configurations, including RAID 6 with advanced data guarding to prevent downtime or data loss during upgrades or in the event of drive failure.

“In the face of explosive data growth, HP is focused on simplifying storage for customers with the latest and most innovative technologies,” said Ashraf Helmy, product marketing manager of the StorageWorks Division at HP Middle East.

“These new MSAs reinforce our long-time leadership in advancing SAS technology within our storage and industry-standard server portfolios.”

HP said the products were a step forward for HP Adaptive Infrastructure.
