HP gets in touch with its feminine side

In a bid to woo the fairer sex, HP has released a special edition version of its Pavilion dv6200 laptop targeted specifically at female customers.

The vendor said it has made the limited edition white and silver entertainment notebook PC more tactile and easier to navigate than a standard notebook, adding female-friendly features such as a scratch-proof ceramic casing and an ultra-thin slide out remote control.

"No one normally thinks about women in IT. We decided women care about the way a product looks so why not do something for women that no one else has," Elena Danici, consumer products category manager for HP Middle East's Personal Systems Group (PSG), said at a women-only launch of the notebook in Dubai last week.

The laptop is part of HP's Imprint line and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium edition pre-installed. It also include an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 120Gbyte hard drive and a 39.1cm LCD screen. It also has built-in WiFi. The notebook comes with a range of accessories including a matching white mouse and headphones.
