i2 continues Middle East expansion by unveiling logistics division

Mobile provider i2 has continued its rapid expansion by unveiling a new division called i2 Logistics.

Mobile provider i2 has continued its rapid expansion by unveiling a new division called i2 Logistics.

According to the company, the unit will handle the handset logistic needs of operators in the Middle East.

In a statement, i2 claimed that it understood the "increasingly complex and competitive environment" surrounding mobile network operators and said that it is confident that an intermediary logistics service will be valued by operators throughout the region. "The company will offer numerous services such as warehousing and storage, handset customisation and packaging, repair and maintenance extended warranty and more," read the statement. Saudi-based i2 will be hoping the new division quickly contributes to its top line given the ambitious growth plans it has for 2007. It claims to be aiming for revenues of US$3.2 billion this year - double the amount it registered in the previous 12 months. i2 is also targeting handset sales of 12 million units this year.
