A series of themed events will be held throughout the year at co-working space The Impact Hub to support the UAE government’s declaration of 2015 as ‘The Year of Innovation’.
The Downtown Dubai-based incubator and innovation hub has announced a calendar of activities starting on 24 February to help entrepreneurs find focus and opportunity.
The series of interactive exhibitions, workshops and talks is aimed at boosting innovation among young people, fostering a nurturing environment for entrepreneurship, and encouraging schools and universities by sharing best-practice and access to experts.
Speaking about the events, Aman Merchant, CEO at Impact Hub Dubai, said: “Impact Hub Dubai is part of a global entrepreneurial and innovation network and we are determined to play our part in providing the environment and resources by which UAE-based entrepreneurs can find their niche and make a sustainable impact both locally and globally.”
A core component of the series, identified by the title #IHDTRENDS2015, is the ‘2015: GO Trend Yourself’ lecture series, which is made up of seven key monthly seminars covering all areas from food to technology to fashion.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, 24 February, focusing on key business trends for 2015 and hosting David Ghaf, a man who brought the Ivy to Dubai and launched Ghaf Kitchen, to discuss how trends affect his business.
“It is no longer enough for businesses to value trend information, they also have to stay ahead of them in an extremely competitive world if they are to survive and succeed,” added Mia Jafari, programme manager at the Impact Hub Dubai.
