Fountain will be part of the island's new waterfront destination set to open in 2018
Palm Jumeirah’s new waterfront dining and entertainment destination will now include an $18 million dancing water fountain.
The island’s developer Nakheel has inked a deal with Beijing Water Design to develop and operate the fountain that will cover a 12,000 square metre area of water at the tip of the island across from.
Situated across from Atlantis The Palm, the fountain will be part of the island’s The Pointe, a new 1.4 million square feet waterfront dining and entertainment destination being developed at a cost of $217 million.
Managed by Nakheel Malls, the retail arm of Nakheel, The Pointe will feature over 100 dining and retail outlets, and is expected to open at the end of 2018.
"Today’s signing is a major milestone for The Pointe, as it means work on its centrepiece the fountain is now underway,” said Nakheel’s Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah at the signing of the contract.
“We are now one step closer to delivering this eagerly-anticipated destination,” he added.
