Company is on course to become the world's largest aluminium smelter following completion of its Line 6 expansion project
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has reported a 51 percent increase in sales for the third quarter of 2019, compared to the same period last year.
The company, which is on course to become the world’s largest aluminium smelter following completion of its Line 6 expansion project, saw sales volume reach 376,025 metric tonnes (mt) in H1 2019, as opposed to 248,970mt for H1 2018.
While production topped 385,396mt, up 53 percent on 2018.
For the first nine months of 2019, Alba reported sales of 945,067mt, up 26 percent from last year. Production was also up 26 percent for the same period.
Acting CEO Ali Al Baqali, said: “With the double-digit growth in our production and sales’ volume, we are set for a strong finish to 2019. This year is proving to be transformational for Alba as we will produce 1,350,000mt for the first-time in history and deliver Line 6 into commercial operations.”
