Kuwaiti achievement awards. Topping off a successful 12 months of rebranding and ongoing expansion, Agility – formerly PWC Logistics Group – scooped the award for logistics company of the year. The logistics giant that now has a presence across the globe, employs over 20,000 people and brings in annual revenue of around US$4.5bn.
The award for entrepreneur of the year was given to Salah Al Maousherji, head of Alfarabi Investment Company – that has a paid up capital of US$73.5m and specializes in private equity, project finance and establishing new companies.
Having achieved record net profits of US$876m in 2006, the National Bank of Kuwait was named the best bank in Kuwait at the ceremony while Kuwait Finance House won the award in the Islamic finance field.
The prize for top real estate company in Kuwait went to Al Mazaya that set up the GCC’s first property index last year. The group has also had marked success in the development and sale of its ‘Business Avenue’ project in Dubai that comes with a commercial value of US$220m. The company is also currently working on a project in the UAE’s vast Dubai Land development. Meanwhile, MTC Kuwait was recognised as the country’s leading telecoms operator and the Investment Dar group was named investment company of the year. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, director of Kuwait’s National Security Agency, and Mohammad Al Bosairi, deputy of the National Assembly.
Sheikh Al Sabah, a member of the Kuwaiti Royal family, was given a special ‘man of the year’ award. Finally, Kuwait Commercial Markets Complex Company lifted the award for tourism development while IFA hotels and resorts was named as the fastest growing company in Kuwait.
