More than AED500 million ($136m) in airport building, equipment and services contracts for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) market will be on offer at next week’s 9th Airport Show in Dubai, organisers say.
The procurement deals are linked to the more than AED220 billion ($59.9bn) worth of airport development projects estimated to be under way across the region, with the GCC, Iran and Iraq alone accounting for 75 percent of investments.
With at least 39 airports under construction or modernisation across the markets, organisers say the show is expected to offer a hive of business opportunities for suppliers.
More than 40 airport officials from 19 airports and aviation authorities from Tunisia to China, as well as more than 200 industry suppliers from 30 countries are due to attend the May 19-21 show.
Frederic Theux, President of Reed Exhibitions Middle East, said priority projects for airport managers included construction of terminals, cargo and aircraft hangars, taxiways, electric substations, air traffic control towers, and services from baggage handling to X-ray, information and security systems, besides, operation of aircraft dismantling facilities.
In total, the Airport Show has confirmed the attendance of project owners representing nearly AED25 billion ($6.8 billion) in airport project development, Theux said.
