ABB is to design, supply, install, test and commission electrical systems in the new Terminal 3 building at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.
The contract, worth US $77 million (AED282 million), includes the supply of 11kV panels, a distribution transformer, low-voltage panel, cabling, wiring, conduits, light fixtures, busbars and uninterruptible power supply to the building.
ABB’s power distribution management system Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) will be used at the terminal to monitor and control the entire electrical network. Real-time information is made available through the system, which is accessible both remotely and locally.
Remote and local access will both be possible to the network and real-time information is made available as part of the system.
The scheme is part of an airport modernisation project to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2010. The new terminal is scheduled to be operational by March 2010.
Terminal 3 will cover 520,000m2 and have the capacity to handle 25 million passengers.
