Engineering, procurement and construction on a US $60 million (SR225 million) metal alkyls plant in Saudi Arabia is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.
The plant is being built by Zamil Industrial Development Company and the Chemtura Corp and will produce 6,000 tonnes per year by the time it’s completed in 2009.
Metal alkyls are used in polymerisation processes in the petrochemical industry to make plastics such as polyethylene, and some synthetic rubbers.
