Fujeirah gets first mountain-sea resort

UAE’s east coast will get its first mountain-sea resort in 2009, according to developer Mina Al Fajer.

The emirate of Fujeirah is to get its first mountain-sea resort in 2009, according to property developer Mina Al Fajer Real Estate.

The master plan to develop the AED 600m mountain-sea resort will include a 200 room five-star hotel managed by the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.

Work on the The Mina Al Fajer will commence next month and is expected to be completed before the end of 2009, giving Fujeirah its first exclusive world-class real estate project. The 777,025 square foot project will stand where the Hajar Mountains meet the sea.

HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan will become chairman of the property development company.

Abdulrahman Al Awar, director of development and investment at the private office of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan, said: “The philosophy was to develop a property that will preserve the unique charm and heritage of the location while providing a contemporary and luxurious twist,” he said.

“The result is a spectacular mountain resort with a superb sea-front that will include a marina, 48 mountain villas, 13 solarium villas, and 80 marina apartments, in addition to a five-star hotel to be managed by Fairmont. Mina Al Fajer, nature provides a dramatic backdrop to a contemporary, luxurious living experience that will be quite unlike any community in the region.”

Renowned designer Xavier Bole has been commissioned to create the property’s concept, while Erga Progress will design and supervise the construction and implementation of the project.

Al Awar added that the Mina Al Fajer resort would be the first in a “planned portfolio of distinctive projects that will propel the company to become one of the leading property developers in the region, with iconic properties not only in the Middle East but also in Europe and the Indian sub-continent”.
