Green village for Abu Dhabi

Cityscape special: Green living and smart homes on Hydra Village drive Abu Dhabi toward an eco lifestyle.

The launch of an eco-friendly ‘village’ focused on energy conservation and green living is set for Abu Dhabi, it was announced today at the Cityscape exhibition.

Hydra Village, a project from real estate developers Hydra Properties, is designed to be an environmentally aware community, boasting a water conservation programme, recycling points and its own Green Programme.

The village will have facilities for recycling paper, tin cans, plastic and glass, and will also implement water storage and conservation projects.

“Hydra Village is designed to offer tenants all the smart home technologies, conveniences, facilities and comforts associated with modern-day living while maintaining its eco-friendly status and a clear focus on green living,” said Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim, CEO of Hydra Properties.

“This is being done through enhanced green spreads and landscaping initiatives such as a Green Programme for residents, recycling disposables, water conservation and technology applications that are designed for reducing energy consumption,” he added.

The village’s Green Programme will focus on cutting back on motor transmissions, helped by a free transportation system, and smoke-free areas in the community.

Most establishments in the community will either have dedicated non-smoking floors or will be completely non-smoking.

Properties in Hydra Village will be also be equipped with energy-saving features.
