The UK Health and Safety Executive has issued a technical alert to tower crane firms across the country to ensure that high-tensile bolts used on masts, jibs and slew rings are correctly installed and tensioned.
According to the document, failure to do so could lead to the bolt connection failing, with catastrophic consequences.
It added that the information is issued without prejudice to any ongoing investigation.
