Sayed Habib of Mega Carpets based in Dubai spoke to CID about the Middle East’s current trends in carpet design at Domotex yesterday.
“Current trends, in the Middle East are moving from the oriental and traditional designs, and are transferring towards the modern,” said Sayed Habib, head of sales and marketing, Mega Carpets.
“Colours such as chocolates and beige were everywhere, but now the market is going toward the stronger colours such as pink, gold, and blue – our latest collections incorporate solid, bold colours and a mixture of different textures, however, we still want to produce our traditional designs,” he added.
Producing carpets made of 100% polypropylene sourced from its own yarn based in Jebel Ali, Mega carpets produce around 600 m2 of carpet per month, exporting to clients across the GCC region and worldwide.
“The main difference between us and others is because we understand the customer market wherever we go. Also, with 90% of the materials being sourced from in house production, we are able to have proper quality control from production, right the way through to the final product,” said Habib.
