Some 1,200 new jobs are set to be created in Bahrain with the opening of a $200m fiberglass manufacturing plant in Hidd.
The new facility in Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP) at Salman Industrial City, is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s S & A Abahsain Company and China’s Chongqing Polycomp International Corporation (CPIC), Gulf Daily News reports.
The firms are to expand Abahsain Company’s existing manufacturing plant in BIID, which began production in August last year.
According to the report, the firms will invest $200m to $300m in the development of a 45,000sqm manufacturing joint venture with a capacity of 140,000 to 210,000 metric tonnes a year.
Dr Hassan Fakhro, Industry and Commerce Minister, told the paper: “This is the largest investment to date in the Bahrain International Investment Park and is a testament to Bahrain’s competitiveness as an international manufacturing location.”
