UK-based Plant Technical Training centre has set up shop in Dubai with the aim of improving safety standards on building sites in the emirate.
“Falls from height are a major cause for concern as figures indicate that there is an increase in fatalities as construction grows in the region.
“Often it is lack of training on the equipment used and the ever increasing pressure to complete the job quickly, which leads to such accidents,” said Helen Dillon, director, Plant Technical Training.
The company offers courses in risk assessment, scaffold inspection for the erector and supervisor, safety harnesses, hydraulic work platforms and all access and plant equipment.
The courses are accredited internationally and provide up- to-date information based on British Standards for safe and effective work at height.
They are offered in Arabic, Urdu and Hindi.
