Destination developer Ruwaad has announced plans to develop a themed entertainment and mixed-use development, Amazulu World, located in the Kwa Zulu-Natal province in South Africa.
The company’s chief development officer, Nicholas Bashkiroff, told Construction Week that the project will be developed in phases over the next 25 years on 16,500 hectares of land.
“The project is in its pre-development stage and will have a game and nature reserve, theme park, water park, six golf courses, apart from residential and commercial offerings and 22kms of beachfront,” Bashkiroff said.
“It will also house the largest retirement community in Africa and a high-performance sports centre with offerings for cricket, rugby and tennis. Given that it is in the same time zone as Europe, it will be a wonderful place for teams to practice during the off-season.”
Berkashoff feels that with the Middle East market getting saturated, and investors from the region will be looking at the project to diversify their portfolio.
“Emerging markets like South Africa that have a stable economic policy, sustained growth, a democratic government and a solid investment in infrastructure creates a platform where FDI is warranted.”
