Sharjah-based developer Arada has awarded a contract worth AED145 million to build a major sports complex at Aljada, its AED35 billion flagship megaproject, marking another milestone in the growth of one of the UAE’s fastest-developing mixed-use communities.
The contract has been granted to Dubai-based Civic Builders Trading & Contracting LLC, which has already begun work on site. The complex is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
Set within a landscaped park spanning 400,000 square feet, the sports complex will feature a comprehensive range of facilities including a full-size football pitch, 5-a-side football fields, basketball, padel tennis, volleyball, squash and badminton courts, as well as cycling and jogging tracks and adventure play areas for children.
Complementing the sports facilities will be two F&B outlets, including the Reformatory Lab, an Australian coffee brand recently launched in the UAE, alongside a water play area, changing rooms and public amenities.
Two underground parking levels will provide convenient access and additional capacity for Aljada’s growing community.
Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “The delivery of this world-class sports complex is in line with our goal to enable an active, healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors to Aljada. It’s also another addition to the exceptional amenities we continue to build across the community, which consistently enhance quality of life and increase long-term value for our homeowners.”
The new complex adds to a diverse portfolio of facilities across Aljada, which already includes the Madar Mall retail and entertainment hub, a futuristic business park, and a forthcoming cultural and performing arts centre designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Spanning 24 million square feet and comprising 25,000 homes, Aljada is designed as a fully integrated urban destination featuring residential, retail, hospitality, education, healthcare and leisure components.
Arada has so far handed over 7,500 homes with another 2,000 under construction, bringing Aljada’s current population to 20,000 residents. Completed projects include the Nest student housing complex, the SABIS International School-Aljada, and multiple phases of the Madar family entertainment district.
