The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has reported 5.4 percent savings on district cooling energy consumption as a reslt of its 'Smile at 24 degrees' summer campaign.

“The positive response that we received has prompted us to further develop and implement more programs and initiatives that can help make people more informed about the significance of energy conservation,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO at Empower.

The campaign - which was launched in June - asked consumers to set their AC units to 24°C to help save on their electricity bill, while also saving on energy.

The initiative falls in line with the UAE’s vision to promote sustainable development and reduce the emirate's carbon footprint according to Dubai Plan 2021 to transform Dubai into a smart city with a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

Empower provides district coolin services to a number of large-scale real estate developments in Dubai, including Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre and Palm Jumeirah.
