Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (ADFEC) has invited bids from five companies for a carbon capture feasibility study. ADFEC wants to use carbon dioxide to boost Abu Dhabi’s oil recovery rate.
“[CCS] is a viable substitute for the vast amount of natural gas currently re-injected into oil reservoirs for pressure maintenance,” said Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of ADFEC.
The winning bidder will by selected in April and the feasibility study will be completed by the end of 2007.
