ADNOC Gas plc has awarded $550 million in contracts for the next phase of expanding the UAE’s natural gas pipeline network.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts were given to NMDC Energy P.J.S.C. and Galfar Engineering & Contracting W.L.L Emirates.

Around 70 percent of the contracts’ value is expected to benefit the UAE economy through ADNOC’s In-Country Value (ICV) programme.

ADNOC Gas ESTIDAMA Project to extend network

Known as the ESTIDAMA Project, it will extend the network operated by ADNOC Gas from 3,200 kilometres to over 3,500 kilometres.

This will enable higher volumes of natural gas to be transported to customers in the Northern Emirates.

“This award supports the ongoing expansion of the UAE’s gas pipeline network, which will bring lower-cost and sustainable natural gas to more locations across the country. We are proud to play a leading role in meeting the growing demand for gas across the country and enabling the UAE’s goal of gas self-sufficiency,” Dr. Ahmed Alebri, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas said.

He added that the ownership transfer means ADNOC Gas “will continue to benefit from the expansion of the pipeline networks, while improving our capital efficiency.”

The company will manage ESTIDAMA for ADNOC and be paid transmission and operating fees.

The expanded network will bring lower-cost, sustainable gas to more areas of the country.
