Experts from Iran and Pakistan have began talks in Tehran on the US $7.4 billion Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline, without the participation of India, which says it will not attend the tri-nation meetings unless a transit-fee issue is resolved with Pakistan.
Technical experts and lawyers from the three nations met in Iran, to exchange views on the gas-supply contract that India and Pakistan would have to sign with fuel supplier Iran.
Iran plans to export 30 million m3 of gas per day to Pakistan once the two sides reach an agreement. The proposed 2600 km long pipeline project is being built to deliver natural gas from Iran to Pakistan and India.
