Qatar on Wednesday awarded a consortium of General Electric and South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Company a $500 million contract to build a 1,250 megawatt power plant.
The plant is to be located in Mesaieed and is scheduled for completion by mid-2010.
It will use natural gas provided by Qatar Petroleum (QP) under a long-term supply agreement.
The plant will be a combined cycle unit with a configuration that includes four F-Class turbines and two steam turbines.
