The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure plans to install more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the country by the end of 2025, according to Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs.

Speaking at the World Governments Summit preliminary day, Al Olama revealed that the ministry, which holds a 50 per cent stake in UAEV, installed over 100 EV chargers nationwide in 2024.

The ministry aims to increase renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030, Al Olama said, highlighting the country’s commitment to clean energy development.

The initiative involves collaboration with the private sector and local authorities.

The expansion of the charging network comes in response to the increasing demand for electric vehicles in the UAE, as the country works to reduce carbon emissions through clean transportation.
