Eye care is not the only healthcare topic under discussion in Dubai this November. Physicians and healthcare professionals will unite at the Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine (DCAAAM) from November 7th-9th to share their expertise and research into age-related diseases.
With over 70 internationally renowned medical practitioners expected to attend the event, illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancer and heart disease will be assessed together with the means for detection, prevention, treatment and reversal.
While anti-aging events are well-established on the healthcare agendas of other international cities, this is the first time such an event has taken place in Dubai. The congress, which will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre, is organised by Tarsus and The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
Developments in the techniques and practice of cosmetic surgery and aesthetics will also be on conference agenda. Chairman for The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Dr. Ali Mohamed, however, says the conference is aiming to provide a much deeper understanding of the anti-aging agenda.
“When we talk about anti-aging, people tend to focus on the cosmetic aspects and external appearance. Whilst these are important elements, anti-aging medicine is also a serious scientific discipline that concerns itself with the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related decline and diseases.
“Presentations at the Dubai event will include innovations and discoveries into the use of stem cells, advances in cancer therapy, as well as the use of bio-identical hormones in anti-aging and breast cancer,” he explains.
A number of key speakers have already been enlisted for the November event, among these are Dr. Susan Lim, the founder and chairman of Singapore-based Biotechnology firm Stem Cell Technologies (i) and Dr. Maria Khattar PhD, a UAE-based practitioner and founder of the Aesthetica Clinic based in Dubai Healthcare City and the J.W. Mariott Business Complex. Dr. Khattar will be among the delegates discussing aesthetic medicine.
Dr. Lim, who focuses on adult stem cells in regenerative medicine and cell therapy for chronic diseases affecting the heart, liver, joints and diabetes, will address the topic of Autologous Platelet Cell Concentrate as a Biological Scaffold for Soft Tissue Regeneration.
Dr. Khattar will be discussing Autologous Cellular Rejuvenation Therapy (ACR). “What makes ACR completely different from other skin refining treatments is that it successfully uses the patient’s own blood to harvest specific cells that are responsible for tissue repair, namely the platelets,” says Dr. Khattar.
Laser specialists Dr. Farouk Al-Watban MSc, PhD, Principal Scientist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh and Dr. Martin Kassir MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Dallas, will be presenting cases in aesthetic medicine.
Adding further strength to the conference are Dr. Stanislas R Burzynski MD PhD who will be presenting the Practical Application of Gene Silencing Theory of Aging; Dr. Michael Colgan PhD, CCN, a scientific specialist in nutrition who will be speaking on the Inhibition of Aging: The Next Decade and Dr. Ali Mohamed MD will discuss The World’s First BIHRT Baby Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
