Saudi Arabia confirmed a further three cases of swine flu on Wednesday, bringing the total number of reported cases in the country to 48.
Health officials said an 18-year-old Lebanese girl and a 12-year-old Saudi boy, tested positive for H1N1 in Riyadh, while the third case was a 53-year-old Filipino woman in Jeddah.
“The three cases were patients who had contracted the flu from the infected people,” an official from the ministry told Arab News, adding people needed to stop visiting patients with the virus in order to prevent its spread.
“People must cooperate with the authorities to combat the disease,” he added.
The newspaper reported that as of Wednesday 39 swine flu patients had been discharged from hospitals.
The ministry has set up a swine flu hotline (800-249-4444) to provide information about the H1N1 virus.
