The UAE has become a leading model for highly efficient healthcare delivery, according to Hanan Balkhy, World Health Organisation Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean. She said the country’s health system is not only advanced at the regional level but ranks among the strongest globally.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Finance Week, Balkhy highlighted the UAE’s performance during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidence of its capability. She said the country had demonstrated effective epidemiological surveillance and strong coordination between public and private healthcare systems, helping prevent fragmentation in care delivery.

She said the UAE’s ability to provide comprehensive and efficient services made it a system to be emulated. “Our presence at Abu Dhabi Finance Week is very important so that we can meet with donors and partners on health-related matters,” she added.

Balkhy also underlined the crucial role of donors, member states and partner organisations in developing long-term solutions to major health challenges.

She noted that support comes from governments, the private sector and international institutions, all of which contribute to strengthening health systems and advancing global cooperation.
