The London home of an unnamed Saudi widow was burgled last Thursday, with thieves making off with £6 million ($7.8 million) worth of watches and jewellery, according to media reports in the United Kingdom.
The property, which is located in the upmarket London suburb of Kensington, is close to the home of heiress Tamara Ecclestone, which was also the subject of a £50m raid just 24 hours later. British police said at this stage they do not believe the two raids are connected, The Sun reported on Tuesday.
“I am absolutely devastated. They are irreplaceable. The police don’t seem to care. I am too scared to go back to the flat. London is just lawless right now. Where are the police?” the unnamed Saudi widow was quoted as saying.
“When I read in The Sun that Tamara Ecclestone had been robbed I thought it could be the same people.”
Items reportedly stolen during the burglary include a £1.3m limited edition diamond encrusted watch by Mouawad, a £2m necklace and earring set, Cartier earrings, a £100,000 Cartier necklace, a Chanel necklace, a Bulgari watch, a £448,000 Chopard watch, a £611,000 Chopard watch and £255,000 worth of Van Cleef jewellery.
