Al Diyafah street, the road at the heart of Dubai’s bustling Satwa district, will be renamed ‘2nd of December’ street to mark UAE National Day, the emirate’s ruler said Saturday.
The new name will cover the length of the 2,500m street, which leads to Dar Al Ittihad, the site of the declaration of the United Arab Emirates on 2nd December, 1971.
The move marks the 40th anniversary of the Gulf country, celebrated last Friday, said HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
New road signs reflecting the renamed street will be unveiled over the next 48 hours, the chairman of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority said in a statement to news agency WAM.
