Kylie Minogue will perform at the grand opening of Atlantis, The Palm, but not until the end of November, a source close to her label has told Arabian Business. The Australian popstar, who reportedly signed a six-figure deal for two shows in Dubai, will perform one private concert at Atlantis and then another public concert at a location yet to be decided, the source said.
The source said the concerts will likely take place between Nov. 20-24, though the exact dates have still to be finalised. Previous reports claimed that the concert will take place on Sept. 24, which will fall during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The launch of Atlantis has become one of the most talked about events on the Dubai calendar, with several global superstars linked with the grand opening, including Michael Jackson and Madonna.
The resort, however, has remained tight-lipped on who will be performing at the opening and when the launch will be.
A spokesperson for Atlantis declined to comment when contacted by Arabian Business.
Kylie’s publicist was not immediately available for comment.
Minogue, 40, has returned to the limelight after recovering from her very public 2005 battle with breast cancer following intensive chemotherapy treatment.
Atlantis will be the flagship resort on the Palm Jumeirah and the first to open its doors on the artificial island.
The 1,539-room resort began taking reservations in February. It will encompass a 46-hectare site with 17 hectares of water-themed amusement parks, an open air marine habitat, beaches, boutiques and restaurants.
