Box office collections of ‘Pathaan’ the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer spy-thriller, crossed $52.5 million (₹4.29 billion) in just four days, as it continued its dream run worldwide.
On the fourth day of the release, Pathaan earned $42.4 million (₹2.65 billion) in India and over $20 million (₹1.64 billion) overseas, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
In Bollywood, Pathaan is ‘rewriting history’ as it has now become the fastest Hindi film in history to enter the $24.4 million (₹2 billion) club, surpassing KGF2 and Baahubali 2’s Hindi versions, which hit the mark on the fifth and sixth day, respectively.
Seeing the box office collections, film trade expects the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer to end its first week on a historical note.
The Bollywood movie became the highest-grossing Hindi film with a $13 million collection on Day 1 on Wednesday.
Production house Yash Raj Films (YRF), makers of ‘Pathaan’, in a social media post last Friday said with a bumper first day, the movie became the biggest opening day in the history of Hindi cinema.
YRF said ‘Pathaan’ had set multiple new records, including the ‘widest Hindi release of all time in India’ and ‘highest grossing first day for a non-holiday release’.
The various box office records the Shah Rukh Khan spectacle, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham include:
- Biggest Bollywood opener domestic (₹57 crore net)
- Biggest Bollywood opener overseas ($4.50 million)
- Biggest Bollywood opener worldwide ($13 million)
