Wanasah TV, a new music channel that will be managed by the MBC Group, will be launched officially tomorrow at the Madinat Jumerirah, Dubai.
The launch will begin with a live broadcast concert at 20:30 (KSA time) featuring Arab music superstars from across the region.
Owned by Rashed Al Majid – region’s most popular vocalists – the channel will feature a host of new presenters, a mix of the latest in music and variety programmes as well as locally-produced content.
Al Majid promises to offer viewers a new level of interactivity. “I’ve always wanted to diversify into the music broadcast industry; Wanasah has been in the back of my mind for some years,” says Al Majid. “With my music background and the MBC team’s industry experience, we have the know-how to deliver a new channel that will represent a paradigm shift in the way people interact with and enjoy TV and music.”
The channel is aimed at the new generation of educated Arab youth, especially young Saudi men and women. “This audience – Generation Y – sets today’s trends. They understand the power of the internet and the media, and they are the ones who actually set the rules in terms of what we’ll be doing with tomorrow’s technology, and Wanasah will respond to this – offering a fresh music experience.
“I’ll let the channel speak for itself when we go live on July 3, but in the meantime, let me say that we’ve come up with some amazing content and programming concepts that’ll have people hooked right from the start,” adds Al Majid.
