Self-service at petrol stations is coming to Dubai, with Enoc to be the first to introduce it at 10 stations between midnight and 6am.
In a statement on Monday, the company said it would phase in self-service from July in a bid to improve efficiency in the business.
It claimed the move would “modernise” petrol stations and strengthen service standards during night-time.
The nightly operating hours of those stations, which are quieter, had previously been cut back and self-service will allow customers to still access petrol.
“Over the past months, we have been modernising and updating our systems to facilitate self-service at 10 service stations. These have been selected on the basis of the footfall and location to minimise inconvenience to motorists, and enable them to become more accustomed with the new system,” Enoc managing director Burhan Al Hashemi said.
“We will also extend support to customers in the initial days to familiarise them with fuel dispensing.”
Affected staff would be transferred to other stations, the company said.
