Lulu Hypermarket has signed an agreement to open a 100,000 sq ft store in The Mall at Abu Dhabi World Trade Center, it announced on Sunday.
The move is part of a strategy to diversify its retail portfolio.
The new hypermarket will focus on grocery and supermarket products targeted at the large multinational population in Abu Dhabi.
The mall opened in November 2014 as part of a mixed-use development that includes the tallest building in Abu Dhabi – the 381-metre Burj Mohammed bin Rashid. The mall also has a Spinneys supermarket.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, chief development officer of Aldar Properties: “The Mall at World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi has undertaken extensive market research to better understand the needs and preferences of our customers and so have taken a strategic approach to diversify our retail offering.
“By introducing leading brands, like Lulu Hypermarket, we aim to exceed customer expectations, by providing the best shopping and leisure experience and therefore we are delighted to be signing this new collaboration.”
