UAE’s District Trading: redefining luxury in the UAE

Backed by a portfolio that includes exclusive aviation and a luxury distribution company, District Group’s CEO Ahlam Rahi ushers in a new wave of luxury with new collaborations with Polish luxury brand Dr. Irena Eris and Italy’s Fontana Contarini Cosmetics

As an Emirati luxury distribution company based in Abu Dhabi, District Group’s CEO Ahlam Rahi explains that District Group’s portfolio extends across several interests and industries, including District Events & Marketing, a marketing agency offering creative marketing strategies and event management services. And Sky Platinum Aviation, a premier aircraft broker company with distinctive private jet services.

Exclusive collaborations

With its recent partnership with luxury Polish brand Dr. Irena Eris, Rahi explains the aim of this collaboration is to position themselves among the top-tier retail companies by implementing effective business strategies. “We will continue to acquire new brands to expand our portfolio, always keeping in mind our customers’ needs.”

As part of the partnership, District Trading and the Dr. Irena Eris brand will work synergistically to become recognised as a top-tier leading Polish cosmetics brand. “The only non-French cosmetics brand to be accepted into the prestigious Comité Colbert, an association of luxury brands which includes Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton, Dr. Irena Eris includes over 550 different products in its portfolio with exports to over 60 countries worldwide,” she says, with nine patents and their own science/research centre, skincare institutes, hotels, and spas.

Fontana Contarini Cosmetics

A brand that was founded in the early 1960s in Bergamo, Italy, Fontana Contarini Cosmetics merges classic makeup technology with the latest fashion-forward makeup technologies. Originally available solely to professionals, it was after its backstage usage at Milan Fashion Week when the brand went public.

She explains, “We are proud that our products are cruelty-free; Fontana Contarini’s use of organic ingredients prevent your beauty from being hidden behind a mask and instead, works on maintaining it,” she says.

Female empowerment

As an Emirati woman, Rahi believes in the UAE, women are empowered and should emphasise their core values rather than focusing on the word empowerment. Some values she lists includes being kind to one’s parents and being a supportive wife. She adds, “Also, to be a mother who prioritises her children and inculcates values such as confidence, manners, and responsibility, which will help them become successful leaders of the future.”

Future expansion plans

With regional expansion and developing a strong base of key customers as core strategies, for Rahi, the main goal is to gain their consumer’s trust with which comes loyalty. She says, “The expansion plan is to be accessible to our consumers at their ease, while offering our products online and in stores within the Middle East.” District Trading will soon be introducing several innovative brands in their portfolio, which she says will be exclusive.

The UAE’s economic superiority

With several major multinational companies shifting base to the UAE, Rahi feels that strong economic growth requires an educated society as well as a skilled workforce living in a healthy and sustainable environment.

“The UAE has an open economy with a high per capita income and a sizeable annual trade surplus; with Abu Dhabi and Dubai as its dual financial centres, the UAE has long commanded economic superiority in the GCC,” she says. “This has positively impacted District Group and makes us confident in our vision that we have aligned to our rulers’ visions; to be number one in all aspects with excellence.”
