Germany’s Martin Kaymer on Sunday clinched victory at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship with a one-shot margin over England’s Ian Poulter.
Both players shot six under par rounds of 66 on the final day, with Kaymer taking the Falcon Trophy with a final 21 under par score.
Irish sensation Rory McIlroy, a winner at last year’s Dubai Desert Classic, took third place.
A play-off between Kaymer and Poulter looked likely until Poulter miscued on the last, and was unable to hole his birdie effort from the fringe.
Kaymer holed his birdie putt to claim his fifth European Tour title.
Kaymer has now finished first, second and first in the last three years on The National Course, and becomes only the second player to win the event twice after Paul Casey.
