The launch of the UAE’s satellite Falcon Eye 1 has been delayed due to bad weather conditions over the French Guiana Space Centre on the north Atlantic coast of South America.
The launch has been put back from its initial Saturday slot until Monday July 8 at 5.53.03am UAE time, state news agency WAM reported on Friday.
It said the UAE has completed all preparations for the launch of the satellite to orbit.
The satellite is designed to provide global coverage for the next 10 years for military and civilian use and is characterised by a high-definition imaging system and accuracy.
It also has a mobile station capable of sending and receiving images from any region in the world.
Falcon Eye 1 will be the fourth reconnaissance satellite launched by the UAE, bringing the total number to 10 satellites in orbit.
The UAE plans to have 12 satellites in orbit by 2020.
The UAE satellite was built by Airbus Defence and Space and Thales Alenia and weighs less than 1,500kg and will be launched via a Vega rocket by Arianespace.
