Dubai will convene experts from diverse fields to chart the course of artificial intelligence development for the next seven decades, according to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation.
The global event, AI@70: Towards a Global Humanity will take place during Dubai AI Week 2026, marking the 70th anniversary of the Dartmouth Workshop that established AI as a field of study.
Dartmouth College, which hosted the original 1956 meetings known as “the Constitutional Convention of AI,” will officially support the initiative, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) said in a statement.
Sheikh Hamdan reveals Dubai AI Week 2026 to feature historic global summit
“Dubai believes in the power of knowledge sharing, global cooperation, and meaningful partnerships to anticipate the future of artificial intelligence and harness it to improve lives and advance societies. AI is the transformative technology of our time. It has the power to change the way we understand what it means to be human, how we work, and how we understand the infrastructure of humanity. To unlock its full potential, Dubai will bring together the brightest minds from around the world – to understand the changes AI will bring and to ensure it is a force for positive, inclusive development. This event will place Dubai at the heart of the global AI conversation, drawing on our rich philosophical history to set up new breakthroughs that serve humanity,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
The summit will precede the creation of the ‘Humanity Lab’, an eight-week incubator matching the duration of the original Dartmouth Conference.
Hosted at the DIFC’s Dubai AI Campus, this initiative aims to combine art, philosophy and technology to develop new AI products that reflect AI’s profound impact on humanity.
The gathering will establish a research agenda focusing on scientific, philosophical, ethical and societal questions surrounding AI.
It aims to pair technological advancements with philosophical innovation to create new understandings of current transformations and generate potential futures previously considered impossible.
The Dubai International Financial Centre will organise AI@70 in collaboration with advisory firm APCO. The conference steering committee includes representatives from DIFC, advisors from APCO, and other AI experts.
