Saudi Arabian company Mobily has awarded a contract for the construction of a UMTS network to Huawei Technologies.
Huawei will supply its New Generation Node B solution to facilitate plans for Mobily, which is owned by UAE’s Etisalat, to deploy a UMTS terrestrial radio access network.
This is not the first collaboration between the two firms: Huawei already works with Mobily in the field of 3G and in deploying GSM networks.
“Huawei is pleased to be the major supplier for Mobily’s 3G network and deploy a high-quality network with strong performance,” said Wang Jiading, vice president for Huawei’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) operations. Huawei’s UMTS New Generation Node B is already deployed in countries around the world including Spain and Malaysia.
