Lebanon consumers should expect high-speed DSL internet services to be launched next March, according to the director of a local ISP.

Quoted in the country’s Daily Star newspaper, Maroun Chammas, executive director of IDM said the Lebanon Telecommunications Ministry, state-owned telco Ogero and providers had two meetings last month to move along long-awaited DSL services.

“It really looks much better than before,” Chammas said. ISPs are now pushing the ministry to set prices.

Ten years ago Lebanon became the first Arab country to offer internet access.
