Panasonic subsidiary Matsushita Electric has recalled 6,000 PC batteries due to their risk of overheating in the latest crisis to hit the computer market.
Matsushita said when one of its notebook PCs with the battery in question was subject to a strong impact, such as being dropped on the floor, there was a chance that a metal spring used in the battery pack could come into contact with the battery cells causing them to overheat.
Matsushita would not identify the supplier of the batteries that it has recalled, but did say it was neither Panasonic or Sony.
